I don’t know who collected these or where they are from. They were dropped off at the ID tables and someone else named them at the mushroom fair. I think they might have been collected at two different locations because I saw only one, then an hour later both together. I did smell them when I took the photos, but did not taste them. No clue as to the host tree.

There are several species with geranium smell. This doesn’t look like pelargonia to me.
With the purplish/pinkish stem it looks more like gracillima (smell indistinct). I have no idea what you might have in California.
Spore colour? Taste?

Yes, a nice odor, like geraniums.
