MO offered several options for Rhytisma, but I found three most referenced species online matching this particular fungus. Rhytisma americana has this wavy pattern on the surface of the “tar spot”. Rhytisma punctatum has scattered dots that don’t form the continuous “tar spot”. Actually, several of my photos here display the pattern similar to that, but I still think they’re R. acerinum, since they converge on the outer perimeter of the “tar spot”. Any other opinions?
