A nice 4" tall cap.
Many observations of Coprinus comatus do not show the annulus, which is located close to the base of the stipe.
Close-up of slug damage to bottom of cap, including and area becoming dark brown to black, where spores are just starting to mature.
Scales on cap present, but not obvious.

Recognized by sight: Distinctive shape in grassy lawn of mini-park adjacent to Kaiser-Pemanente parking lot. Only one sporocarp found. Abundant rainfall of last 48 hours has saturated the cap. Scales on cap present, but not dry enough to extend outward from cap.
