Notes: In duff; while it may be hard to see in the photo, there were 1 or 2 strands of what appears to be remnants of a cortina; white spore print; nondescript taste.

This phenomenon that has been noticed in other collections really seams worth investigating. Why would spiders only make webs under Laccaria caps? Maybe these are not spiderwebs…

cortina or cobweb?

If you enlarge the image to Huge Size you can see threads even with or under the cap. Are these:

  • cortina
  • cobwebs
  • something else?
    If cortina, is this compatible with the suggestion that this is Laccaria?
