One thing I forgot to mention.

This lichen grew on the same piece of rock as observation 117700 – dolomite or limestone slab at a bike path trailhead.

Could be either Caloplaca or Candelariella

Looking through the species of Caloplaca in Thomson’s Wisconsin flora, our only choices are Caloplaca arenaria or C. sideritis if siliceous (both much redder) or C. feracissima (hmmm… this is plausible). Or Candelariella aurella or C. vitellina. Does Candelariella ever grow such large perfect colonies?? It seems rather yellow for Caloplaca, but maybe it really is?
