There is obvious confusion around both Hypholoma species and Pholiota species in the PNW, because they vary in appearance. Heavy, heavy rainfalls and super fast growth rates impact these species’ appearance. They should be photographed more often!

There appear to be mixed opinions

about the relationship between H. marginatum and H. dispersum. IF lists them as separate species. Mycobank say they are the same and prefer the name H. dispersum. MO accepts both names. Your (gsharpnolack) observation of two weeks ago (116421) of what looks to be the same species is going by H. dispersum. I’ve considered this to be H. dispersum when I find it in the PNW. Myxomop, or anyone, what’s the difference?

thanks to myxomop

thanks myxomop for your guess on this one, I’ve found similar mushrooms and wondered what they were
