Recognized by sight: reddish spotting on the mature gills; no pronounced yellow bruising; inrolled margin and streaks of pinkish coloration on cap.
Based on microscopic features: Spores 6 × 3 microns, smooth, elliptical

Recognized by sight: While spores are somewhat smaller than described for H. erubescens, and there was no pronounced yellow bruising, because the collection is from a mixed forest with conifers and because lamellae appear to be widely spaced, H. erubescens seams a reasonable suggestion.
