Observation 118584: Polyporus P. Micheli ex Adans.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: This was brought in by a friend. Unfortunately we don’t have the “pes” that might be “cavi” – i.e. the rest of the pileus that might be hollow.

Also, he remembered it as growing on a dead log – which does not seem very bolete-like. Certainly not with larch, I don’t believe there are larches or tamaracks this far south.

Nonetheless, there are the wonderful, big decurrent tubes, and the shaggy top. Any clues, anyone?
