Recognized by sight: I don’t think P. candolleana is not so conspicuously striate, online pictures & Smith’s descriptions seem to agree.

Your find has veil remnants fringing along the cap margin from a well developed outer-veil. While the common P. candolleana type (At least in CA) has rudimentary outer veil and has the veil remnants appendiculate on the cap margin from the well developed inner veil. If you compare it with this image http://mushroomobserver.org/image/show_image/277468?obs=115140&q=tbKw you should be able to see what I mean.
