Observation 118785: Suillellus amygdalinus (Thiers) Vizzini, Simonini & Gelardi
When: 2012-12-01
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Fruiting under Live oak (Quercus agrifolia). Deep red-brown pileus, pores red near stipe and warm yellow near margin, stipe yellow with red hints. All parts turn blue violently and quickly. My only question about ID is that these mushrooms were VERY viscid, which doesn’t seem to be a normal characteristic of this species. The taste seemed to be mostly bland with a tiny hint of spice, though it was hard to tell for sure because the slime and attached grit kind of took over my two nibbles. Spore print was olive brown (a better description than my original cigar brown).
