Yes on cones.

In our area they are often found on cones. in fact they are more common on cones that on leaf litter! So I never understood this with fungi like Strobilurus and Baeospora does the mycelium just grow into the fallen cone from the leaf litter and then the cone forms a perfect place for fruiting?
