Recognized by sight: same mushroom that was collected in Redwood Regional park. This is NOT a virus, but the form of the fruit body. Rubbery over-all, strongly inrolled margin even at maturity, and hollow (from top of cap to base)!
Based on microscopic features: STILL couldn’t find basidiospores, even on the most mature looking fruit body.
