these beautiful mushrooms grow under a wide range of trees and shrubs.

it can also grow with Acacia and Melaleuca

It was growing near a knobcone pine and an acacia tree. Fraterna apparently associates with acacia according to Kuo.

Not sure what you have in California, but it’s not laccata
