Observation 120552: Inocybe leptophylla G.F. Atk.

When: 2012-12-16

Collection location: Washington Park Arboretum, Seattle, Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Mark Lee (EdibleGuy)

No specimen available

Notes:
These were pretty beat up when I found them. Brown scaly cap and stem on a tan background. Growing in dirt and thick conifer needles under a Sequoia. After sitting in a bag for 3 days, I am just now taking photos. Pretty fragile now.

I entered the following into the MatchMaker program for Pacific Northwest fungi:
habitat=ground under conifers
cap and stem=any brown and scaly
cap shape=flat

It suggests this match:
Inocybe leptophylla

Hmmm, I think that’s it.
