Had a chance to eat a Prince recently….was an incredible treat. So I am trying to learn about this family as i would like to eat many more of these. :-)

I did not slice it open or completely remove it from the ground. The best photo I have does not show staining at the base. You could be right.

Staining? Did it stain yellow at the base and was the base bulbous? It kind of looked like a Wine-colored Agaricus or the Hondenis, to me.
