Cap 4.5-10 cm across, broadly convex with a sunken center, to irregular-funnel shaped, margin incurved at first, becoming wavy and irregular. Surface smooth, greasy-tacky but not viscid.
Gills: Broadly attached to subdecurrent, close to crowded. Latex white, unchanging, not staining the tissue.
Stipe: tapering towards the base, hollow.
Taste: quickly and strongly acrid. Odor not distinctive.
Under Tanoak, Madrone, Douglas-fir and Hemlock.
