Under oak and madrone in leaf litter, with manzanita, buckeye and pines nearby.
Dry cool day after several days of rain and near freezing temps at night.
Blue-dark bruising of pores.

(Photo taken by my legally-blind friend as I pointed up the hill with my cane. Will collect and do spore print etc. next time.)

The top of the cap was dry, and a dark red, wine color (not tan or brown), with light tan edges. About 4-5 cm in diameter.
Stipe was yellow at top, and pinkish at base.
Pores very yellow.
