Observation 121399: Gloeophyllum sepiarium (Wulfen) P. Karst.
When: 2012-12-23
Who: goatshoes
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These were found growing on a picnic bench in a treeless yard. Cap:Tough, rust brown, yellow/orange/white margin, hairy yet smooth. NAS Field guide has these fungi as growing on dead conifer stumps and reported on hardwoods. I’m not sure what wood the picnic bench derives from. It also states that the undersides are crowded and gill-like and sometimes mixed with pores which is what I think I’m seeing in the photos.
