Observation 122207: Marasmius plicatulus Peck

When: 2012-12-30

Collection location: Oaks above UC field station, Santa Cruz Island, Santa Barbara co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: zack mikalonis (zackm)

Specimen available

Notes:
an orange brown form. We also found a salmon/pink color form. Both of these color forms grew in distinct groups interspersed with the standard red capped fellas. Coast scrub oak, arctostapholis insolaris, mountain mohagany, and probably some odd ceanothus mixed in.

Both photos were taken with exactly the same camera settings, but I allowed different amounts of light to reach the scene. As you can see light really affected whether they looked orange or brown.
