included in this obs. But, given the time of year, the habitat, and the white caps with large brown scales, it seems highly unlikely these mushrooms are anything other than the regionally common Shaggy Parasol. To my knowledge, the look-alike C. brunneum does not occur here in Pennsylvania. C. molybdites is not unheard of in these parts (highly uncommon), but it occurs in grassy areas. Leucoagaricus americana (formerly Lepiota americana) cannot be completely ruled out. But this type occurs on wood, chips, or woody debris.
