Observation 123103: Cortinarius variicolor group
When: 2013-01-19

Notes: Single specimen growing near tanoak and Doug fir.
Cap 10.4 cm across.
Spores ~ 9.8-11.0 X 5.0-6.0 microns.
KOH on cap was brownish to reddish brown.
KOH on stem flesh was yellow.
Odor not noticeable.

This is the member of sect. Variecolores that I experimented with to eat. Very, very tasty.
