Observation 123161: Lepista nuda (Bull.) Cooke

When: 2013-01-20

Collection location: Warren G. Magnuson Park, Seattle, Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Mark Lee (EdibleGuy)

No specimen available

Growing in the lawn under a fir (Abies). Most of the stem was below ground. The cap was almost flush with the lawn. Smells like Agaricus bisporus buttons, pine, and faintly of oranges. Raw it tastes wonderful, savory, pleasantly fungal like an Agaricus bisporus button, and a melting feel in the mouth.

Based on the opinions of a previous observation I posted, I was thinking I had found Lepista nuda. Are there any look alikes?
