Observation 127816: Mycena (Pers.) Roussel
When: 2013-01-26

Notes: A group of four mushrooms, one missing the cap. Growing on a conifer(?) log. The largest cap a little less than 2 cm. Decurrent gills unusually elastic/tough (when trying to remove them with forceps), about 20 reaching the stipe.

Basidia 35 microns, sterigmata 7 microns. Cheilocystidia 50×10 microns. Pleurocystidia not observed. Spores pip-shaped, 7-8 × 3-4 microns. There was a strong reaction with Melzers on the sporeprint, but the color turned more brown than black.

No good match with anything in Smith’s monograph (section Omphaliariae), nor in Maas Geesteranus (section Hiemales, subsection Omphaliariae).
