Observation 12805: Strobilurus Singer
When: 2008-10-16
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Keys out to Xerulaceae, but I don’t recognize it. Cap is white, approximately 1/4 the diameter of a quarter, 2.5-3 inches tall, tiny stipe perhaps 3mm thick or smaller; white gills, dehydrating very fast after being unearthed; many rhizomorphs at base of stipe.

I am relatively ignorant of this species except for S. trullisatus. No cone present. Does that suggest any other species?
