Observation 12809: Pertusaria
When: 2008-10-17
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These crustose lichens were fairly common on the basalt rock-work which stabilizes Vista House. Vista House was created in the 1930’s by the WPA, which brought in Italian stonemasons to create a highway built literally on a cliff-face. Not for the squeemish. Just down the hillside from Vista House, there is a near vertical foot drop to near the Columbia River.

[admin – Sat Aug 14 02:07:20 +0000 2010]: Changed location name from ‘Vista House, Multnomah County, Oregon’ to ‘Vista House, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA
