Observation 12885: Russula cessans A. Pearson
When: 2008-10-15
No herbarium specimen

Notes: In moss under jack pine. First three photos are of a mushroom found on the fifteenth. Second three are of a mushroom found fairly close by, in the same habitat, on the seventeenth.

On the seventeenth, the first mushroom was still lying where I’d left it, but the cap had almost completely become white. The pink/red was partially gone on the fifteenth and almost completely gone two days later, though more in a patchy rather than fading manner.
