Mucilago crustacea doesn’t turn into Fuligo septica. Mucilago crustacea starts out off-white to slightly yellowish, and Fuligo septica starts out bright yellow. Both species fade in age, but this looks pretty fresh, so if it was Fuligo septica it would be a lot more yellow.

When you say “Not yellow enough in this stage of development for Fuligo septica”. Does it generally develop from Mucilago crustacea to Fuligo septica?

There were multiple specimens when I found this one, much of them were yellow or pale yellow in color. But am just an amateur.
