Observation 12982: Trametes gibbosa (Pers.) Fr.

When: 2008-10-15

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Notes:
Or maybe Lenzites betulina. On a tall stump (not apparently birch; probably pine). Had some trouble getting the underside photos, so one is dark (after retouching, less so, but speckled) and one is slightly out of focus.

Edit, October 23: got back and got arguably-better photos of the underside of the same bracket. The stump has at least three (part of a second can be seen in the first photo).

Recognized by sight: Or is it Lenzites elegans now?… white cap, pores not maze like, looks more like a trametes.
