Observation 129957: Coprinus comatus (O.F. Müll.) Pers.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Very straight stalk. Only odd thing was this white mushroom had a black ring around its edges. Saw another specimen about 100 feet away. Growing on the shaded Eastern side of a tall, old brick building.

has a brown scale at the cap apex as can be seen in this image.

I don’t see such on your specimen and there are other Coprinus species such as C. calyptratus which lack this brown scale, but I’m not sure that is a better name either.

I believe it more closely resembles Coprinus comatus, on your website.
