Notes: Another Hydnellum from the cape.
Large, cap 12-18cm, soft, velvety, brown center with whitish margins.
Flesh tan with bluish zones, darker blue towards spines. Spines grayish with slight violet tint becoming brown. Odor disagreeable. Taste like mud…

The teeth look very odd for H. caeruleum, but sometimes they do have that blueish tinge. Noah, we may ask for this specimen eventually.
