Observation 130080: Mycena metata (Fr.) P. Kumm.
When: 2013-03-09

Notes: Growing on decaying conifer log and on pieces of it on the ground.

Older caps are somewhat wrinkled; gills without pink tints at any stage.

Odor none, but when drying, the mushrooms release a chemical (iodoform?) odor, not strong. Taste mild at first, then becomes unpleasant, chemical.

Spores 8-10 × 4.5-5 microns. Cheilocystidia 30-37 × 15-20 microns. Basidia 4-spored, 30 × 7.5, sterigmata 5 microns. No pleurocystidia.
