Observation 130331: Polyporus P. Micheli ex Adans.

When: 2013-03-12

Collection location: DeLaveaga Park, Santa Cruz, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Andreas ( andreas7.guerrero@gmail.org)

No specimen available

Found on dead wood with another, smaller specimen, about half the size. Pores are white and easily visible, very fleshy and soft. There is no discernable smell. The flesh is soft but tough, not easy to tear.

On the Internet, there is a mushroom bearing resemblance to mine, called polyporus squamosus. However, this species is not found west of the rockies, according to my sources.
