Crust lichen, on hardwood bark.
THALLUS: light grey-green, very verrucose and cracked showing white through from below, K-, C-, KC-
MEDULLA: white, C-, K+ orange to reddish-brownish, KC-
APOTHECIA: buried inside white cottony pustules all over surface of thallus, very slightly pale pinkish
SPORES: 110-120 × 40-50 µm, wall 5-6 µm thick
This species isn’t fully described in Brodo, but what info is there matches well. It essentially keys out as P. ophthalmiza but with the weird orangish-brownish K reaction in the medulla.
