Observation 131466: Hypoxylon fragiforme (Pers.) J. Kickx f.

When: 2013-04-06

Collection location: Otsego Co. New York, USA [Click for map]

Who: Phil Yeager (gunchky)

Specimen available

Notes:
Small (4-8mm)round or dome shaped fungi on Fagis grandifolia (Beech). I have a few of them at home. Found too much fungi today to cart everything out of the woods. Had a work project. The surface of this fungus is very minutely bumpy. I’m presuming that these bumps are due to the presence of Perithecia below the surface.
