Observation 131794: Agrocybe praecox (Pers.) Fayod

These were growing on the ground in debris of a 2+ year old logged area.
Caps were up to 6 cm across.
Spore print was brown.
Spores ~ 7.9-8.9 X 4.9-5.3 microns, smooth with a germ pore.
Some scattered Pleurocystidia and Cheilocystidia that was utriform.
Thought these might be something a little different from the normal A. praecox as the coloration seemed rather unique. Microscopy tells me I was fooled once again.

There is a grey-ish Agrocybe in the Sierras that we have been calling A. praecox for years, and it seems to agree under the scope. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is so…
