Pluteus pouzarianus has a different type of cap surface. There are several relatives of P. pouzarianus in North America, but P. pouzarianusitself does not occur here

The colors of cap and stipe, and the velvety cap surface point to the Pluteus leoninus/Pluteus roseipes group
