we have the same problem as the Americans: applying foreign names to indigenous fungi. But there are not much left. This may be one of them in need of a new name.
I know that we call this albidum in Europe – but is it really the same as the american Hydnum albidum Peck?
The only DNA-sequenced collections of albidum are european, none american, and no other american sequenced collection is close either… I find it strange.
