Notes: Where is the division between esculentoides type and diminutiva/virginiana type? First photo of single morel (Morchella A1) shows specimen found growing near sycamore. I would lean toward esculentoides for this one. Other morels were found near white ash or tulip poplar and are ones which seem to best fit into the diminutiva/virginiana category.
Not a very good morel year so far here in the mid-Atlantic lower northeast NA. First too chilly, then too dry. A common theme which seems to correlate with low morchella output.
