Recognized by sight: Hypoxylon is my best guess, but I’m posting this in hopes someone will know for sure what this is. I can not find anything like it in the references available to me, unless the hairy white dots (seen better in the photomicrograph) are not part of it, but rather a parasite of some sort? These stromata covered several feet on the bark of a fallen log.

Recognized by sight: anamorph of some xylarious fungus, color and aspect typical, i don’t know if they usually grow on the telemorph.
