About the cap surface of R. compacta…

I think one way to describe the cap of R. compacta is that it looks like someone has passed a spray of brown paint unevenly across a dull white mushroom…. except for the ones that are almost completely white.

Gills bruise prominently, and rather quickly, brown. Odor somewhat unpleasant, like raw fish.
