The illustrations are similar to the brighter colored photo on this observation. The data comes in part from a study of the type of subnudipes.

The stipe is not decorated.

For this reason, and because of the geographical location of the observation, I think it is more probable that this is Amanita subnudipes (a distinct species) that used to be called Amanita crocea var. subnudipes.
