Notes: Seemed a bit different than the usual L. laccata; slightly bulbous base; didn’t save it.

note anastomosing gills in one specimen.

Hardly surprising, given that these mushrooms were observed near the West Coast. :-)

It doesn’t look right for the Eastern North American L. trullisata.

….but the gills weren’t purple and I’ll bet that there is more thatn one sand-dwelling species. Dimi recently informed us about a horrifying number of similar yet different Bay Area Laccaria. sigh. a little knowledge is a dnagerous thing!
