Differentiating among the different names used for edulis types of Boleteus seems quite elusive to me. Chippewaensis and clavipes are each names that may apply here. To add to this confusion, Xanthoconium seperans sometimes looks a lot like an edulis type.

what I had once called Boletus clavipes; club-shaped stipe, broken tight reticulatum at apex composed of fine threads. Not sure if this name still applies to NA material. I did a quick internet search and found photos showing what appear to be a multitude of edulis types all labeled “Boletus clavipes.”
