Found in sandy soil in old growth oak hammock that also features very old slash pine tress (there are also bald/pond cypress, FL maple, wild citrus. The property has an active cattle lease and historically speaking, has been used for cattle operations since the early 1900s; however, the family that owned the property did not log the slash pine and most of the oaks, so there are some very old trees here (and a lot of dead wood and thick detritus).
