at the accompanying observations and again at the original images, I’m leaning more toward C. fruticulosa as an ID. Still couldn’t hurt to scope it, especially since so few obs of that sp. have been scoped, if any.

I can re-visit this location whenev… and yes, huge amounts of this under the log!

I can probably use the microscopes at school… what should I look for?

It looks like there may have been two stages of this — whatever it is — growing beside each other. Can you revisit this observation for more photographs? Do you have access to a microscope?
