Observation 136702: Agrocybe praecox (Pers.) Fayod
When: 2013-06-06
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found by Bharati, but id’ed by me after sitting on the scope for a bit. Found in wet areas near river, at Wild Plum Campground, Sierra City.

First micro-shot is of the pileipellis at 400x in Meltzer’s. The cap surface is cellular without thick gelatin or pileocystidia.

The second micro-shot is of the gill edge at 400x in Meltzer’s. There are scattered cheilocystidia on a fertile edge. There are also scattered pleurocystidia, pretty much all broadly lageniform.

The third micro-shot is of spores from the gill at 1000x in Meltzer’s. The spores are smooth, tan, ellipsoid, with clear germ pore. The apr. size is 9 × 6 um.

Thought maybe it would be something more interesting, but it keys out in Flora Agaricina Neerlandice Vol. 6 as Agrocybe praecox just fine.
