Observation 136952: Boletus fraternus group

When: 2013-06-19

Collection location: Maple Shade, New Jersey, USA [Click for map]

Who: I. G. Safonov (IGSafonov)

No specimen available

Notes:
A scattered group of 7-9 specimens growing on lawn. The only tree in the immediate vicinity is a magnificent ancient oak.

The “campellus calculator” on MushroomExpert.com gave conflicting results (no spore measurement).

KOH is yellow orange on the flesh, yellow-brown on the cap and deep amber-brown on the pore surface.

The flesh is pale yellow, quickly staining blue. The stipe flesh is reddish-brown on the lower 1/3.

I think these are from either campestris or fraternus group; too small to be B. rubellus.
