I am wonder both about the angle of the picture and the type of tree. Black cherry in Wisconsin has something that is similar, though at times a little more globular, however in certain finer cracks on the tree during hotter summers on older trees it exudes like this. More of a red/brown, but your in Washington and I’m not sure what this wood is in this picture.
