if I had encountered lots of other types, then this smallish red russula would have stayed in the woods. I was collecting material to take to a mushroom club meeting, and pickings were quite slim. Rain needed!

Sometimes when there’s not much available in the way of charismatic megafungi, I end up learning more from the small things that would otherwise escape notice.

I don’t know much about the sections of Russula. So maybe this will serve as a starting point for me to learn a few thingsa about one.
