Notes: Growing on ground in mixed woods. My first thought was “Bolbitius”, but the initially white gills eventually turned grayish. Then I thought “Psathyrella”, but I could think of nothing in this genus which seemed match this specimen. Long striations on cap lead toward Parasola, but habitat and fairly robust stipe seem out of place with this genus.
Not deliquescing. I doubt this solitary terrestrial mushroom represents Coprinus micaceus. Fuzzy mycelial ball at stipe base seems interesting. Cap laid out for spore print seemed to produce a dark grayish-brown print.
